Although Ara's Flight is meant to be a universal story about the
desire to regain what is lost, it is interwoven with symbols
associated with the Armenian people and the tragedies of the
Armenian Genocide (1915).

Set directly across from Mount Ararat - one of the greatest
identifiers taken away from the Armenian people - the film
parallels Ara's personal tragedy with the longing felt by many
Armenians today for their homeland, families, and history.

light on a story that many have tried to bury.
